And here's something pretty cool...have you ever heard of this? It's Rock N Roll Camp for Girls, it's a day camp in the Portland Oregon area for girls, and, well...it rocks!
Here's their mission statement: "...to help girls build self-esteem through music creation, performance, and workshops. We empower girls to be independent thinkers and develop life skills. As a supportive community of peers and mentors, we provide positive role models, hands-on experience, and access to technical and creative resources. Summer Camp classes, workshops, and events are designed to foster self-esteem and life skills development in every camper while having fun, creating music, and making friends." Oh yeah, and they learn to play guitars and drums and be in cool bands and stuff, not dumb fake video-game ones, but real-life ones.
I mean, what could be cooler than that?
My friend Lidya is going this summer, I'm sure she'll have a blast (rock on, Lidya!).
Which brings me to these:
My "Girls Rock" and "Tomboy Princess" lines of scrapbooking papers and stickers by Miss Elizabeth's are both in stores now. If you're not familiar with Miss Elizabeth's products, they're really nice quality 70# acid-free, lingin-free papers...available at discount and dollar stores. Yes, I said discount and dollar stores! But I've got to tell you, from my picky-artist's-point-of-view, I am pleased with the quality...the paper, the color reproduction...they make my art look like it's supposed to (what more could I want?). Great quality products at great low prices (what more could you want?). The papers come in a 6-pack and there are also coordinating sticker sets for both!
And, once again for you DIY Digital Craft Divas out there, pcCrafter has more of my Girls Rock designs in digital format. Here's just a sampling of what's included in this Creatable:
So go on girls...craft on, scrapbook on, and rock on!
