...of a few new products that haven't even made it into stores yet.
Last week my sweet friend Shelly snapped a few photos of my new products in the Transpac Imports showroom at the summer gift mart in Atlanta. It might be a good thing that I wasn't there myself as my excited SQUEEEEEEE upon first seeing these samples might have actually broken all those big glass showroom windows.
Could have been tragic.
You'll probably recognize my little French veggies
from the La Cuisine recipe binders, desk sets, and notepad/magnet sets. Soon you'll be able to coordinate those with kitchen ceramics, how cool will that be?
I was especially excited to see this next collection though. Inspired by my little cakes that you might have seen on this birthday card at your local Trader Joes
it was one of my first real product-development projects, which was super fun for me and something I look forward to doing a lot more in the future. You can see a couple of my original drawings here above the actual finished collection on their showroom shelves.
Didn't they turn out cute? Really nice quality and so fun to see my little drawings turned "real".
As an illustrator, my entire life has been spent translating 3D objects into 2D; that's how my brain tends to work. Everything I see, I imagine it drawn on paper. Flat. It's just how I see the world. So for me it is a really fun excercise to then take those drawings and visualize them back into something completely different: not only back to a 3D object, but one that can serve another purpose, be a useful item someone can use for something. For me and my little flat-thinking brain, this is all very exciting and new.
I can't wait to actually see these in person and hold them in my own hands (!) but for now, I'm so grateful to my good friend for sharing the photos with me, and hope you enjoy seeing them too!
Thanks again, Shelly! You rock!
Beth, I am so in love with your cupcakes, etc. collection! Can't wait to find them in local stores.
A forever fan,
Deb Hale :)
